F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What does "Purveyor of the Unnatural One" mean?

Unlike most other dicemakers who have their logo placed on the 20 face of a D20, our lich logo is instead featured on the 1 face of both the D6 and D20. We ultimately made this decision for several reasons, the first being that as players ourselves, we get more excited when we see that "natural" 20 face when when we land a crit. Additionally, given the villanious lore surrounding most liches, it felt more appropriate for our lich logo to represent doom and chaos, which is more fitting when a "natural" one is rolled. Hence, the phrase "Purveyor of the Unnatural One" has two meanings; liches are unnatural beings, and the word "one" can refer to both an individual (in this case a lich) and the literal number. Therefore when you roll a "natural" 1 with our dice, you're going to see an "unnatural" lich staring back at you to bring you all the chaos that rolling a 1 can often bring.

2. Do all of your D20s and D6s have your lich logo on the 1 face?

No; if you are not a fan of logo dice, that's ok. We also offer a D6 and D20 without a logo / all numerals as well. Not all of our sets will have logo dice and/or non-logo dice, it really depends on each set; you'll just need to read our set descriptions before making a purchase to make sure you are getting what you want.

3. What are your dice made of and what should I expect from FalseLifeDice?

Our dice are made out of epoxy resin and other craft pigments and inclusions. These are handmade dice sets and are not factory made, so small handmade flaws will be apparent to a small degree. We do our best to be transparent about any flaws that we feel would impact the buyer's decision before making a purchase.

4. Do you use a pressure pot to make your dice?

Absolutely! We run all of our dice through a pressure pot to eliminate bubbles. Before casting the dice into our dice molds we also run the freshly mixed, uncured resin through a vacuum chamber as a secondary insurance plan to reduce our bubbles before pouring as well. We love clear, bubble free resin!

5. Do you use your own dice masters / make your own molds?

Yes! We drew up the concept art for our lich logo and Arcana Cast brought it to life on our very own master dice set. We actually currently own two sets of master dice at the moment with two different font styles, two chonky 40 mm D20s, and a set of blanks. We also make all of our own silicone molds from our masters in-house.

6. What D4 styles do you offer?

At this point in time we have two sets of master dice with different fonts. We have the traditional caltrop/pyramid style D4 available in both font types, however, we only offer the crystal shard D4 in our "Cantrip" style font, and the barrel crystal style D4 in our "Divine Smite" font.

7. How big is your chonky D20?

40mm! Our standard D20 is 18mm. We have included a picture of one of our chonks next to a standard D20 for size reference.

8. Are your dice balanced?

Yes! Handmade dice are just as balanced as factory dice, if not moreso (have you ever cut open a factory made dice before and seen the massive air pockets inside of the core?). Because of our process of using a pressure pot and vaccuum chamber, there are very few micro bubbles (if any at all), which eliminates the probability of one side of the die being weightier than another. We are also very careful on what types of inclusions we use. Glitters, pigments, and florals/dried natural botanicals will not weigh a die disproportionally as these items do not weigh anything and are permeated by the surrounding resin in the die. As for bigger inclusions, we primarily 3D print these items which are ALSO made out of resin and therefore will not counteract the weight at all. If we ever do choose to use an inclusion for artistic purposes that might skew the weight, we will always disclose this information.

9. What does it mean if the dice are "RAW & Tumbled"?

We offer both fully "finished" (sanded, polished, and inked) dice, as well as "RAW & Tumbled" dice. RAW is a term applied to handmade dice when the dice have been pulled straight from the mold they were created from without any further sanding or polishing work. In the case of our "RAW & Tumbled" line of dice, we have pulled our dice straight from the mold but have checked them over and applied very minimal sanding where absolutely needed - this ensures no "floating faces" or other jarring flaws that would significantly impact the roll of the dice in play. This does mean minor cosmetic flaws from the mold will remain intact, however, from a layman's perspective most of these flaws will go unnoticed by a majority of people. The "Tumbled" aspect of this dice line comes from the final polishing process- after the dice have been checked over and any major flaws have been addressed, the dice are then tossed into a polishing tumbler, which gives it that final glassy shine. The dice are immediately ready for play upon arrival, but the buyer is encouraged to ink the numbers using acrylic paint in the color of their choosing.

10. Why do you offer "RAW & Tumbled" dice?

We know handmade dice is a luxjury, and due to the nature of the finishing process it can be a bit out of some folks' budgets. We wanted to offer a more budget friendly dice option to increase access to our work. The dice we offer in our "RAW & Tumbled" collection are either more simplistic in design, were a prototype for another design, or is a design we just didn't resonate with creatively. We decided to leave these dice uninked for two reasons: 1) to keep the cost down, and 2) to make this a collaboration between False Life Dice and the buyer. Giving the buyer the opportunity to ink the dice in their own preferred color will set the overall tone for the dice and allow them to match it to their own creative needs.

11. What materials do you use to make your jewelry?

Our jewelry is primary made from either UV or epoxy resin and other craft pigments and inclusions. Earring posts are made of stainless steel.

12. What are your shipping policies?

We offer domestic (USA) and international shipping. Please keep in mind that we are sellers based in the USA, therefore international shipping will cost more. It is also important to understand that any tax/customs fees that arise will fall on the buyer to cover.

13. What are your returns/refunds policies?

Once a tracking number has been created for a purchase and the package has entered the pre-shipment or shipment stage, we will not be accepting returns or offering a refund. If you are unhappy with your purchase upon delivery, we will be happy to discuss possible courses of action to best resolve the issue on a case-by-case basis.

14. How do I care for my dice?

Store at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight; exposure to extreme heat/UV light can cause some resin to soften and discolor. Prolonged exposure to sunlight/UV can also cause the resin to yellow. Lastly, if you clean your dice, avoid using harsh chemicals and instead use a soft cloth with warm water and mild dish soap.

15. Does resin yellow over time?

Yes, unfortunately yellowing resin is unavoidable and will happen over a prolonged lengh of time. The important thing to note is that not all resin brands are created equal. Our resin of choice will only slightly yellow over time if cared for properly. It is also important to note that this is only more noticable with transparent/clear designs.
